Service & Repair FAQ

What should I bring when bringing my machine in for service?

If you’re servicing your sewing machine only, please bring the machine, power cord, foot control, standard presser foot (something we can use to stitch a straight and zigzag stitch), bobbin and bobbin case.

If you’re servicing your combination sewing/embroidery machine, please bring your machine, embroidery unit, power cord, foot control, standard presser foot, embroidery foot, embroidery hoop, bobbin, bobbin case, and design for stitch-out if there is not one already built into your machine.

For servicing Sergers, please bring your machine, standard presser foot, power cord, and foot control. If you would like the machine left threaded, please bring a corresponding number of spools.

Do I need to make an appointment for machine service?

We try to make service appointments as convenient as possible! No appointments are needed, just walk in to any Sew-A-Lot location. Machines are repaired in the order they come in for service. At our Lexington location, you are able to call and make an appointment, but there is an additional fee to be moved up in line.

What is the average cost to have my machine repaired?

Cost for service really depends on the machine type and service needed.

What locations offer machine service?

Lexington and Centerville Sew-A-Lot locations offer machine service and repair.

How often should I bring my machine in for service?

We always recommend having your machine cleaned and/or service once per year, no matter if you use it daily or not at all. Keeping it clean allows your machine to work to its full potential!
